The weekly top 5 playlist – 14 June – Buddy Guy

It’s hard to find an accomplished blues artist that hasn’t at some stage credited Buddy Guy as a primary influence in their career. From Stevie Ray Vaughan to Eric Clapton, guitar gods the world over praise Buddy for the powerful influence he holds over their music.  Buddy never sacrificed his unique style for mainstream pop fame, rather the humble guitar master persevered through struggle and hardship to cement his place as a keystone of contemporary blues-rock. Known for his vibrant live performances and emotive, lengthy guitar solo breaks, Buddy Guy‘s style is neither here nor there, not strictly Chicago blues but not quite rock and roll. As an ode to a true master of the blues, here is our collection of Buddy Guy‘s top 5.

  1. Buddy Guy – You Damn Right I Got the Blues
  2. Buddy Guy – Stay Around a Little Longer
  3. Buddy Guy – Stone Crazy
  4. Buddy Guy – Feels Like Rain
  5. Buddy Guy – Living Proof
