The weekly top 5 playlist – 16 May

I first heard Kenny Wayne Shepherd on a blues compilation album and was instantly enthralled. The guitar gunslinger has been hailed as a contemporary Stevie Ray Vaughan (not too surprising considering it was the Texas blues legend who inspired Kenny to start taking his guitar playing seriously) and he’s achieved an unusual level of success for a modern bluesman. Since 1995, Shepherd has had six singles in the Top Ten and holds the record for the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Charts with Trouble Is…. Here’s a collection of some of our favourite Kenny Wayne tracks.

  1. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Blue on Black
  2. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Shotgun Blues
  3. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – In Too Deep
  4. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Was
  5. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Slow Ride
