The weekly top 5 playlist – 11 April

‘Clapton is God’. The words were famously strewn across a public wall in an Islington Underground station in the 1960s as Eric Clapton gained popularity amongst counter-culture youth. We think the young spray-paint-can-wielding youth probably got it right. Clapton is the only guitarist ever to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times (one as a solo guitarist, and separately as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream). Although we’ve featured Eric on our playlist before, this week we take a trip down Clapton memory lane and showcase some of his finer moments with the likes of John Mayall’s bluesbreakers and Derek and the Dominos

  1. Blind Faith – Can’t Find My Way Home
  2. The Yardbirds – New York City Blues
  3. Derek and the Dominos – Have You Ever Loved a Woman?
  4. John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers – All Your Love
  5. Cream – Crossroads
