The weekly top 5 playlist – 31 January

It’s Monday again and time for our Top 5 playlist. This week we journey from the eloquent guitar and lyrical phrasing of Gary Moore and Robert Cray to artists like Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton and Bo Diddley who no doubt came flying out of the womb howling “I been down and out since the day I was born” while they melted the faces of kind hospital employees with a roaring guitar solo. We also threw in a little Kenny Wayne on the side just for good measure…

  1. Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy – Sweet Home Chicago (from the Crossroads Guitar Festival)
  2. Robert Cray – Smoking Gun
  3. Gary Moore – The Hurt Inside
  4. Bo Diddley – Bo Diddley
  5. Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Shotgun Blues

  1. Buddy is still the man, and his new protege 11 year old ‘Quinn Sullivan ‘ is someone to watch out for. He’s been playing blues from 5 years old, and Buddy has decided to be his mentor. Now that’s saying something http://youtu.be/J4xVkTr01l0
